CS373 Spring 2021: Week 12

What did you do this past week?

This past week I finished up the work for phase 3 of the Software Engineering Project with my team. I worked on new functionality and refining old techniques in our project. Along with the project work, I traveled back home to get my second dose of the vaccine which made me feel pretty sick the next day.

What’s in your way?

The only thing in my way is that I have a lot going on this coming week. I need to sit down and plan everything out in order to not get lost or forget about anything coming up. It is a simple solution, but it will takes some time to organize my upcoming week.

What will you do next week?

This next week I plan to meet with my team and discuss the final phase of the project and how we can finalize our work. My father is also coming up into town so I hope to finish my work promptly so I can golf and hang out with him.

If you read it, what did you think of the More getters and setters?

I enjoyed the reading because it once again shows how easy it is for programmers to use getter/setters and how they are not a correct technique. Proper knowledge on design and implementation of a software system is an asset that employers would love to see.

What was your experience of SQL?

I have had a lot of brief teachings on SQL. I believe it a strong and valuable tool to get to know and use because of all the careers that can spawn from it. I see it frequently in desired experience on job applications.

What made you happy this week?

This past week I had a meal I have been craving for a few weeks. I am not sure of the correct name for it, but I call it Cajun Fettuccine Alfredo. It is basically a spicier version and I am becoming a big fan.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is to reach out to your teammates and ask if they need any help during the project. Even if you do not have any experience on the topic, there is a lot to gain out of reaching out to help. Two heads is better than one when struggling on a problem.
